ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

@RamsHerd and I completing the @alsassociation ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Robert Forehand (a.k.a. @seattlerams) of Cover 32 Rams, nominated @RamsHerd and me to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Will was “all in” not wanting to decline such a challenge. I on the other hand… my head said just donate money but my heart said do the challenge as well.

My heart won out and we ended up doing both.

What is ALS?

ALS or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is “a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.” per ALS Association.

While ALS hasn’t personally touched our lives those affected by it are someone’s friend, family member, or loved one. After all, aren’t we all one big family?

(For those who criticize these types of fund raising efforts calling it “slactivism,” I invite you to read this article by Forbes.com contributor, Tom Watson.)

Will returns the favor to the Cover32 Rams guys by nominating writers Ted Bryant (@Ted_Bryant) and Spencer Engel (@Cover32Engel).

I here by nominate Ramblin’ Fan’s Nathan Kearns (@nkearns) and The Daily Norseman’s Eric Thompson (@eric_j_thompson) to accept the Ice Bucket Challenge.

The whole ice bucket challenge is a fun (?) thing to do to raise awareness and to get discussions started. Beyond that please make sure you take the time to go to ALSA.org to read more about ALS and to make a donation.

Thanks to my family for helping out with the filming and thanks, as always, for reading.
